iSteelAsia.com Joined a Hong Kong Delegation's
Visit to India
Director and COO Mrs. Drina Wan Yue tripped with Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting, Mrs. Carrie Yau to meet with Minister of Finance and Minister for Information and Broadcasting of India in New Delhi [January 14, 2001 - HONG KONG] Representing iSteelAsia.com Limited ("iSteelAsia.com" or the "Group", stock code: 8080), the world's leading steel exchange vertical portal, Mrs. Drina Wan Yue, Director and Chief Operating Officer, joined a Hong Kong delegation to visit India. The Hong Kong delegation, led by Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting, Mrs. Carrie Yau, comprised members from Information Technology and Broadcasting Bureau, Education and Manpower Bureau, the Indian Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong and local private companies. During the stay in India, the delegation visited the capital New Delhi and met with state officials. They called on the Minister of Finance, Mr. Yashwant Sinha, and Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, in New Delhi on 8th January, 2001. The programme also included attending the Partnership Summit 2001 held in Hyderabad, India, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, and visiting the hi-tech centres at Hyderabad and Bangalore. Mrs. Yue has been appointed by the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region PRC as a member of the Information Infrastructure Advisory Committee (IIAC) to recommend steps to take to facilitate the development of the information infrastructure in Hong Kong since August 2000. In fact, in September 2000, iSteelAsia.com announced that iSteelIndia.com would be established as a steel portal focusing on the Indian domestic steel trading market. Initially, the Group will partner with Himachal Futuristic Communications Limited, a leading Indian e-Commerce and technology company, Consolidated Press Holdings, a leading Australian multimedia company, and Stemcor Holdings Limited to set up the new venture.
